“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
- Frederick Buechner in “Wishful Thinking (1973).
We take a moment today to recognize the gifts we see in you –
-
a deep spiritual life, personal integrity, self-knowledge, an understanding of human behaviour, intelligence and an ability to articulate, a passion for justice,
-
a capacity for critical reflection,
an ability to integrate knowledge and experience, as well as, the capacity to be a life-long learner.
These are the gifts required for ministry within the church. You are an individual with so much to offer. We encourage you to prayerfully explore the possibilities and your potential for diaconal ministry.
The Centre for Christian Studies’ Leadership Development Module is an excellent entry level course offered yearly through the Centre. It’s an opportunity to explore your gifts with others considering a similar journey.
“Diaconal” originates from the Greek word “diakonia” meaning “service among others.”
As Diaconal Ministers, we seek to educate and empower all, to work together toward a vision of justice and wholeness in the world. Our ministry requires the desire and ability to stand with others, and to work with them for healing, growth, dignity and justice.
